Great performances earn players YSCC Player of the Week awards

(YSCC) -- Some great individual performances earn these student-athletes YSCC Player of the Week awards. 

GOLF
Trevor Moore | NHTI | FR

Trevor Moore of NHTI is the USCAA Men's Golfer of the Week and YSCC Golfer of the Week. Moore carded the lowest score in a match between the Southern Maine CC Seawolves and the NHTI Lynx. The freshman will look to carry his performance into the USCAA Golf National Championship in early October.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Hunter Hoague | University of Maine at Augusta | FR

First time XC runner, Hunter Hoague has made great strides already this season. She has proven to be one of UMA's strongest runners. Hoague finished the difficult UMA 5K course in 28:18.8; helping UMA to finish second overall by edging out a Thomas runner by 2 seconds. UMA finished behind NCAA Division III Bowdoin College, and ahead of NCAA Division III Thomas College. Hoague is a two-sport student-athlete at UMA excelling in both XC and basketball. She is a Dental Hygiene major with aspirations of being a Dental Hygienist. She is a recent Erskine Academy graduate who was in the National Honor Society as well as a high school KVAC All-Academic student-athlete.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Andrew Shepard | NHTI |SR

Andrew Shepard of NHTI is the USCAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week and YSCC Runner of the Week. The senior was the top runner for the NHTI Lynx at the Pop Crowell Invitational. Shepard finished the event with a career-best time of 29 minutes and 18 seconds.

BASEBALL
Peter Stauber | Southern Maine CC | FR

First-year catcher Peter Stauber collected nine hits in 15 at-bats (.600) to help the SeaWolves to a 3-1 week. Stauber came through with timely hitting and eight RBIs. He walked four times to add to his .650 OBP, and behind the plate was flawless to record two assists and a 1.000 FPCT.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Callie O'Brien | Southern Maine CC | SO

O'Brien scored two goals in SMCC's 4-0 win over Hampshire College on Saturday, Sept. 22. The sophomore has helped the Lady SeaWolves preserve their 6-0 start to the season by leading the Yankee Small College Conference in goals (12) and points (27).

MEN'S SOCCER
Andre Sturgeon | NHTI | FR

Andrea had two shutouts during the week and even scored an assist while playing goal against SMCC.

VOLLEYBALL
Caroline Smith | NHTI | FR

Caroline played very well playing in 6 matches in a 6-day span. She finished the week with 57 kills, 11 aces and 16 digs.
