NHTI's J'Quavious Thurmond wins USCAA Player of the Week, SMCC's Brett wins YSCC women's award

(YSCC) -- Another Yankee Small College Conference student/athlete takes home a USCAA award this week. 

Congratulations to NHTI's J'Quavious Thurmond for taking home USCAA Div II Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Amanda Brett | Southern Maine CC | SO | Forward

Sophomore forward Amanda Brett averaged a double-double, 27.5 ppg and 11 reb/g, spanning two games last week in which she played a total of just 47 minutes.She connected for 61.8 percent from the floor and added three assists and two blocks. Much to do with Brett's dominating performances, the SeaWolves pick up two more wins, each against USCAA nationally-ranked teams, to improve to 10-0 overall, 6-0 YSCC.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
J'Quavious Thurmond | NHTI | SO | Forward

J'Quavious Thurmond of NHTI is the USCAA Men's Division II Basketball Player of the Week. The Lynx of NHTI had two games this week against opponents ranked in the most recent coaches poll standings. In the team's first game against fourth-ranked SMCC, Thurmond had 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the overtime victory. He followed up the performance with a 22-point, eight rebound night against #19 College of St. Joseph's Vermont. In the final contest of the week he was one rebound short of a double-double with nine while adding 17 points and six assists.
