Keto Tchiputo wins USCAA Division II Men's Soccer Player of the Week

(YSCC) - The Yankee Small College Conference is proud to announce the first athletes of the week awards for the 2019-2020 Fall sports season. This week, Keto Tchiputo of Southern Maine Community College Men's Soccer takes home the USCAA Div II Player of the Week.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Michaella Biron | NHTI | SO | Forward

Michaella Biron had a busy week for NHTI scoring three goals while also having an assist. First, she scored a goal in NHTI's 7-0 victory over Vermont Tech. Then against UMaine Machias, Biron had two goals and an assist in a tough 3-0 win.

MEN'S SOCCER

Keto Tchiputo | Southern Maine CC | FR | Forward

First-year forward Keto Tchiputo has scored five goals spanning five games this season. Tchiputo scored twice in SMCC's 3-2 OT victory at Central Maine CC on Sept. 11 and the lone goal in SMCC's 1-0 win over Northern Essex CC back on Sept. 5. He ranks tied for first in goals among YSCC players. Tchiputo also wins the USCAA Div II Player of the Week.

SOFTBALL

Ariel Switser | NHTI | FR | 1B/3B

Ariel Switser has been red hot batting for the Lynx. She is 5-for-6 on the year with two home runs and five RBIs.

BASEBALL

Pat McCarthy | NHTI | FR | SS

Pat McCarthy has been solid for the Lynx in the first five games. He is hitting 9-for-17 for a .529 AVG with four RBI. He also has a stolen base and two runs scored.

VOLLEYBALL

Nayleece Williams | Paul Smith's College | JR | L

Nayleece (Newt) is a junior Communications major from Hudson HS/Palenville, NY. Newt is a USCAA Honorable Mention All American from last season's YSCC Championship team. This past week, she played a critical role in the team's three wins versus YSCC opponents from her libero position.  

Newt was credited with 48 digs in the three YSCC matches, paced by 27 versus Unity College. She is averaging over 5 digs per set.  

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Cassidy Lewis | Vermont Tech | FR

Cassidy won a race this weekend against many YSCC conference schools. The win was her first collegiate victory. Lewis also set a personal best collegiate time in the 6K of 25:03.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Ethan Dessaint | NHTI

Ethan Dessaint finished 3rd at the Lynx Invitational on Saturday with a time of 30:21. He helped lead NHTI to a first place finish in a six college meet.
