SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team earned a 74-68 win against the Clippers from the University of Maine at Machias in the regular season finale on Senior Day Saturday, Feb. 15.

Before lineups were announced, SMCC Athletics gave recognition to three graduating players for their dedication and service to the program—junior captain Tyler Mickle (Billerica, Mass.), sophomore Tyler Clark (Somersworth, N.H.), and sophomore Colin Baker (East Hampton, Conn.).

SMCC held to an 8-point advantage at the break, enough to absorb a 2-point difference in the second half. The SeaWolves out-rebounded the opposition by 16 and totaled 34 points in the paint.

Sophomore Anthony Lobor (Portland, Maine) topped all scorers in the game with 16 points on an efficient 7-11 shooting. First-year Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) finished a complete state line with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 29 minutes on the floor. Mickle scored nine points in the first half—converting a perfect 4-4 from the field.

Machias was powered by James Lindsay and Theodore Wolfe who combined for 28 points and 13 rebounds.

In a post-game interview, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton reflected, "To end the regular season and finish off senior day for Tyler Mickle, Tyler Clark, and Colin Baker with a win was a great feeling. What this group has accomplished in the last two weeks now gives us all the momentum heading into postseason play. To the three seniors—the coaching staff cannot thank them enough for everything they have done. We are looking forward to what the future holds for these young men."

The SeaWolves get to 19-7 overall and will enter the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) postseason as the #3 seed. The Clippers will return to The HUB Saturday, Feb. 22 as the #6 seed for a rematch in the quarterfinal playoff round—time has not yet been decided.
