Huskies Travel to New England

Putney, VT - - The Word of Life Huskies traveled to Vermont and New Hampshire over the weekend to play Landmark College on Friday night, NHTI on Saturday, and Great Bay CC on Sunday in the Huskies annual trip to New England for the 1st weekend in December (Dec.1-3).

On Friday night, the Huskies dominated the Sharks early and often. Branden Dugger led the scoring with 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double. Joseph Mathews also scored 24 points as the Huskies would grab an 83-55 victory to begin the road trip.

On Saturday, the Lynx of NHTI entered the games as USCAA DII #1 Ranked team in the nation. The Lynx got off to a hot start and the Huskies were able to keep the distance within reach, but the Lynx pulled away in the 2nd half to a 110-78 victory over the Huskies. Travis Shearin led the way with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Mathews again also had 17 points, and Dugger had 16 points.

Sunday was about the same as the day before with the game against Great Bay. The Hurons entered play ranked 9th in the USCAA DII Poll and were looking to improve on it. The Huskies were able to spread the scoring around the team having 4 players in double figures (Joseph Mathews, Travis Shearin, Quentin Lackey, and Luke Augusta). But that would not be enough as the Hurons flew away victorious 108-70.

The Huskies are now 2-8 on the season and will face Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences on Wednesday, December 6th at 7 pm.
