QUINCY, Mass.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team took both from Quincy College in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) doubleheader on Sunday, Apr. 21.

Game 1: W, 4-3 (8 innings)

Quincy scored a pair in the opening frame before the Seawolves got even in the third when first-year Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) hit a sacrifice fly to score Brady Navalany (Arvada, Colo.) and rookie Brady O'Lone (Fort Myers, Fl.) singled to bring home Adam Rowland (Alberta, Canada.)

The home team responded with a run-scoring triple in the bottom half of the third but it was first-year Alex Bean's (Westbrook, Maine) single that evened the score again for the Seawolves in the fourth.

Dillon came through in extra innings with a base knock to center to lift SMCC to victory.

SMCC starter Leudys Castillo (Estero, Fl.) allowed three runs over six innings before first-year Jason Libby (Bangor, Maine) came in for two innings of relief and the win.

Game 2: W, 5-4

Again, Quincy set the pace scoring three runs in the first inning by way of fielding miscues by the Seawolves. SMCC picked up a run in the third inning when junior Liam Cooledge (Westbrook, Maine) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Again, the Seawolves clamored back and pulled ahead in the seventh inning scoring four runs with two outs. Sophomore Dante Tocci (Portland, Maine) delivered the big blow, a RBI single to left field, which proved to be the game winner.

Quincy got closer in the bottom of the seventh pushing across one run but first-year Bennett Smith (Falmouth, Maine) completed the save opportunity. Sophomore Gabe Aucoin (Bath, Maine) pitched four innings of no-run baseball to earn the victory for the Seawolves.

The sweep moves SMCC to 21-10 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

The Seawolves return home to host York County Community College in the third and final YSCC meeting with the Hawks on Monday, Apr. 22. First-pitch in South Portland is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
