Seawolves fall to USCAA Div. 1 Bengals

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine-- The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of USCAA Div. 1 University of Maine at Fort Kent in non-conference action on Monday, Sept. 26.

In the first set, Fort Kent dominated with a score of 25-16. The Bengals continued their strong performance in the second set, winning 25-12. The third set saw the visitors maintain their momentum, winning 25-13 and securing the sweep.

The Seawolves had a 30% success rate in attacking in the first set, with four kills and one error out of 10 attempts. However, their performance was less efficient in the later sets owning a 6.7% attacking success rate in the second set (five kills and four errors out of 15 attempts) and a negative attacking success rate of -14.3% in the third set (two kills and four errors out of 14 attempts).

Individually, junior captain Rachel Pardi (Portland, Maine) was the leading scorer for SMCC with three kills, despite having six errors out of 12 attempts. Sophomore Anna White (Buxton, Maine) also had a notable performance, contributing three kills and two aces.

The Seawolves move to 4-2 on the year and get ready to travel to Northern Essex Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 27. First set in Haverhill, Mass. is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
