Huskies take 2 out of 3 in New England

Putney, VT - - The Word of Life Huskies opened up December with a 3 game road trip to Vermont and New Hampshire this past weekend. On Friday, it was a dominant victory over Landmark College in a 69-12 victory. Brianna Ziemer scored 18 points and grabbed 10 boards to earn herself a double-double, and Allison Baker went 3-4 from downtown to earn a 15-point night.

On Saturday afternoon, the Huskies faced off against NHTI Lynx. The Huskies got off to a quick start and held a 13-3 lead after the 1st Quarter of play. The Huskies used that and were able to earn a 60-49 win over the Lynx. MJ Buck led the way with 17 points, Dakotah Cutting had 14 points, and Kayli Hayden had 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Huskies played a sloppy game but were grateful to be able to hang on to win the game.

On Sunday, the Huskies squared off against the Hurons to wrap up the weekend trip. The Hurons stormed into the gym and took a 23 point 2nd quarter to take a 34-20 lead into the halftime break, but the Huskies would not back down as they made a comeback with MJ Buck scoring 14 points, and Rachel Sheaffer scoring 12 points but hauling in 20 rebounds to help bring the Huskies back into the game. But the Hurons drained a running floater with 1 second remaining to defeat the Huskies 53-51.

The Huskies record has improved to 3-5 on the season and will face the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences on Wednesday, December 6th at 5 pm.
