Machias, ME - In their final game of the 2014 season, the Lady Mustangs dropped a road match to the University of Maine at Machias Clippers. With their best field player, former Machias Clipper Kayla Angelico (Lisbon, ME) taking a turn in the net, Central Maine held off a strong Machias team for the first nine minutes of the contest. Jenny Wood opened the scoring for Machias. A hat trick by Brooklynne Lewis along with a goal by Hailey Wegner put the Clippers up 5-0 at the half.
The Mustangs were able to get midway through the second half without giving up a goal until Abby Woodward put one in to give the Clippers a 6-0 lead. Brittany Bills would then complete the scoring for Machias with nine minutes left in the game to close it out with a 7-0 win for the Clippers. Angelico made 13 saves for Central Maine on 20 shots. Machias goalkeeper Aisling Farragher-Gemma needed only one save to preserve the shutout. The Mustangs finished the season winless with an 0-7 record.
