MEN'S BASKETBALL HOLD OFF BADGERS TO ADVANCE TO VTSU CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP
Lyndonville, VT: The Vermont State Randolph men's basketball team took on their instate rival Vermont State Johnson Friday in the Vermont State Univeristy Classic. The Knights fast start set the tone for the game where they led 37 plus minutes. The Badgers from VTSU- Johnson used their size to power their way back into the game and tied the game at 61 with a little over 5 minutes to go in the contest. A huge 3 pointer from sophomore Xzavier Ivey broke the tie and the Knights never looked back holding on to beat VTSU- Johnson 76-70. This win breaks a 4 game losing streak to the Badgers and the Knights advance to the Vermont State Classic Championship game. They will face Framingham State Saturday with tipoff set for 3pm.
The Knights were led by a monster performance from first year player Tyler Allen who netted 25 and grabbed 8 boards. Junior guard Jaylon Calvin added 18 points with an impressive 6 assist and zero turnovers. Xzavier Ivey added 11 respectful, while Romelle Watts just missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds. The Badgers were led by Raymond Baka who had an historic performance scoring 31 points and grabbing 21 rebounds. The Knights improve to 3-1 on the season.
