SMCC Baseball Rolls at Wilkes-Barre, Returns Home 4-0

DALLAS, Penn.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team moved through Penn State University Wilkes-Barre with two wins in non-conference action on Friday, Mar. 15.

SMCC defeated Wilkes-Barre 4-1 in the first game and 8-1 in the second. First-year Sefan Lesco (Somers, Conn.) and sophomore Noah Watson (Ayer, Mass.) both threw dominating performances to earn their first wins of the spring. The high-powered SeaWolf offense picked up where it left off the day previous to outscore their Penn State opponents 49-9 in total.

Head Coach Dave Walsh comments, "We've figured out what this team is capable of—getting it done with our first hacks outside and a long ways from home. Top to bottom the lineup can do damage; defensively our pitching staff performed masterfully in their first outings. What makes it better is everyone contributed—also an opportunity for the guys to bond and come together as a team. The future looks bright for this group."

The SeaWolves return home a perfect 4-0 on their road trip to Pennsylvania, and improve to 14-4 overall. Wilkes-Barre, a member of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC), is winless at 0-4 thus far to begin its season.

On deck is a nine-inning exhibition at Husson University before a three-game home stand with Bunker Hill Community College Mar. 23-24.
