VTC men remain unbeaten; defeat Bobcats 94-74

(VTC) -- Paul Smith's College men's basketball team visited SHAPE Gymnasium for a YSCC conference game against the Knights. Paul Smiths were coming off a tough loss to SUNY Canton, while the Knights had started off 5-0 on the young season. A hard faught contest resulted in a 94-74 win for the Knights.

Head Coach for the Knights Alex Tyrrell has been very proud of his teams play and improvements so far this season.

"Tonight we showed flashes of how strong of an offense of team we can be," said Coach Tyrrell. "We made shots and shared the ball very well."

The first half saw the Knights shoot a blistering 56% from the field and 46% from three, however the Bobcats dominated the offensive rebounds to give themselves many second chance opportunities to which they converted. At the half, the Knights led 54 to 40.

In the first four minutes of the second half the home team made a 16-4 run to stretch the lead to 26 with 16 minutes to play. The Bobcats are never a quiet team though, and they battled hard to cut the lead to nine with seven minutes to go. This would be as close as it would get as the Knights were able to run away with a 94 to 74 victory.

"The depth of our team has been and will continue to be a strength of ours," coach added. "We have a lot of guys that game really fill it up on any given night, and everyone supports each other through the good and the bad. It's great to see."

Drake Parry let the Knights with 28 points and six assists while Trekell Douglas score 24 points and added six rebounds. Since Watkins gave great minutes off the bench adding seven points and four rebounds.
