SeaWolves Shine In YSCC Win 96-85

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team took care of business 96-85 against the Knights from Vermont Technical College (VTC) in a battle of two nationally-ranked teams on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Sophomore Gregory Trinidad (Lawrence, Mass.) caught fire with five three-pointers to score a season-high 21 points in 30 minutes of action.

Senior captain Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) put together his third consecutive 20-point performance on 10-13 shooting and 2-4 from beyond the arc; senior captain Atencio Martin (Kittery, Maine) defended last week's conference player of the week honor with his seventh double-double of the season featuring 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Sophomore Jacobee Burpee (Manchester, N.H.) went for nine assists and two steals and junior captain Anderson Kavutse (Westbrook, Maine) got it done on the defensive end taking four charges.

Four VTC players finished in double figures led by Drake Perry's 22.

The SeaWolves start a new win streak and improve to 9-2 overall, 5-1 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action. VTC now stands 9-4 overall, 5-2 in league action.

The SMCC men round out the first semester in Auburn when they take on YSCC-rival Central Maine Community College on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. The SeaWolves look to avenge a two-game sweep suffered a season ago. WATCH.
