Brady Lifts SeaWolves Over Bobcats In 1-0 Win

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team took care of business by way of a 1-0 win over the Bobcats from Paul Smith's College (PSC) in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) match on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The SeaWolves put together 15 first-half shots and another 23 in the second—but it only took one to make the difference. Sophomore right back Stephen Brady (Rochester, N.H.) handled a drop pass from first-year Noah Edborg (Saco, Maine) to beat the Bobcat keeper off his line from more than 30 yards coming out of the second half at 47:34.

SMCC's veteran defense hung tough to withstand a creative PSC attack and lock it in the other offensive third. First-year goalkeeper Camden Labrecque (Saco, Maine) totaled 10 saves in as many attempts to log his second shutout as a SeaWolf.

Head Coach Brian Dougher spoke on his team's performance, "It was encouraging to see us get so many goal scoring opportunities against a big and strong Paul Smith's defense, now we need to capitalize. We are starting to gel and understand our teammates' tendencies. I'm excited to see how far we can take this thing."

SMCC wins its second in a row to improve to 3-1-1 overall, 2-0-1 in conference action. PSC dips to 1-4-0 overall, 1-2-0 YSCC.

The SeaWolves return to the pitch to take on the reigning YSCC Champion Lynx from NHTI at Wainwright Recreation Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. LIVE STATS.
