Lady SeaWolves Extend Win Streak to 3

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team made it three in-a-row with a defiant 87-26 win over the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Bobcats from Paul Smith's College at The HUB on Friday, Jan. 12.

Everyone contributed to the scoresheet and three landed in double figures for the SeaWolves led by sophomore Emily Keene (Livermore Falls, Maine) who collected a season-high 13. First-years Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) and Abigail Ramirez (Methuen, Mass.) continue to make headlines in their rookie campaigns combining for 23 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks— Ramirez with six steals. 

Sophomore co-captain Emily Hogan (Jay, Maine) and junior Amanda Matos (Orlando, Fl.) went for career highs; Hogan with eight assists and Matos five steals.

SMCC played stifling defense, allowing the Bobcats to single-digit scoring in each quarter while the bench posted 45 in total. 

Paul Smith's Alana Bowden notched a team-high 10 points, seven rebounds, and five steals playing 38 minutes. 

SMCC keeps pace in the conference standings, a half-game back behind second-place University of Maine at Augusta at 8-2 YSCC, 12-5 overall. Paul Smith's falls to 4-7 in league play, 7-8 overall.

The Lady SeaWolves return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 17 to host the Unity College Rams at The HUB beginning at 6 p.m. SMCC is 30-2 all-time against the conference opponent and a perfect 11-0 spanning the previous five seasons. To watch tune into SeaWolves LIVE TV.
