Ruth and Company Conquer Knights on Senior Day

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team picked up another Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory over the Knights from Vermont Technical College (VTC) 77-60 on Saturday, Feb. 10—finishing their season 12-2 at The HUB.

Before the game, SMCC Athletics and the women's basketball team honored three graduating members—Jordan FarquharsonAlicia Ruth, and Amanda Matos—for their accomplishments and dedication to the program.

It was only fitting that Ruth came out firing, sinking four three-pointers before the half to go along with first-year Abigail Ramirez's (Methuen, Mass.) 10 points and eight rebounds to give the home team a 38-31 advantage at the break.

It was Farquharson who took over in the third quarter with eight points on 3-4 shooting, 2-3 from long-range. The SeaWolves went on to win the fourth by a two-point spread powered by two more three-pointers from Ruth who was tabbed SeaWolf of the Game recording her second 20-point performance of the season.

Ramirez, Ruth, and Farquharson combined for 71 percent of the SMCC offense—Ramirez with her third double-double of her rookie campaign. VTC's Xzavia Berry led the Knights with 14 points on 5-8 from the floor.

SMCC stands 12-3 in conference play, one game behind #2 University of Maine at Augusta. VTC sits #7 at 5-11 in the YSCC table.

The Lady Wolves conclude their regular season on the road at #1-ranked USCAA Central Maine Community College on Monday, Feb. 12. Tip off in Auburn is scheduled for 6 p.m. WATCH: http://www.munzingmediasports.com/cmcc/
