UMaine Augusta to face CMCC in YSCC Women's Elite 8 Championship

CONCORD, NH (YSCC) — It was a rough and tumble game from the start, as both teams lost their YSCC First Team All-Conference players to apparent head injuries.

The Seawolves lost Abi Ramirez (Methuen, MA) midway through the third quarter after she collided heads with a Moose defender. Just a minute later, the Moose lost Caitlin LaFountain (Topsham, ME) after she banged the back of her head on the floor. Both players were able to walk off the floor under their own power.

The teams pulled together and stepped up execution, but the Moose couldn't be stopped. UMA pulled away from the Seawolves late for the 65 - 52 win.

SMCC fought tough, energized by the three-point shooting of Alicia Ruth (Plaistow, NH). Ruth finished with 10 points on 3 - 4 from the 3-point line.

UMA was led by LaFountain with 14 points, closely followed by Carmen Bragg (Washburn,ME) with 13 points.

The Moose move on to face the Central Maine Community College Mustangs in the YSCC Women's Elite 8 Championship Game Sunday at Noon. The game will be LIVE STREAMED by NSN Sports.
