Lady Mustangs win 2018 YSCC Women's Elite 8 Championship

CONCORD, NH (YSCC) — The Central Maine Community College Mustangs finished the season as they started; YSCC Champions.

The UMA Moose were without their leader Caitlyn LaFountain, they fought valiantly, but couldn't match the firepower of the Mustangs. CMCC beat UMA 74 - 58 to win the 2018 YSCC Women's Elite 8 Championship.

The Lady Mustangs started out scorching; shooting 63% from the field in the first quarter. But as they have done all year long, the UMA had plenty of fight in them.

After the blazing first quarter, CMCC shot only 15% in the second in large part due to the Moose defense.

The Mustangs were led by Jordyn Reynolds (Poland, ME) who finished with a double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) finished with 15 points for the Mustangs.

The UMA gameplan was a true team effort as 4 players finished with double figures. Sidney Moore (Dixmont, ME) led the Moose with 14 points. Catherine Sanborn (Wayne, ME) added 12 points to the Moose effort. Rounding out the double-figure scorers, YSCC First Team All-Conference player Dominique Lewis (Fairfield, ME) and Kylie Kemp (Monmouth, ME) both tapped in 11 for the Moose.

UMA's Carmen Bragg earned YSCC Women's Offensive Player of the Tournament. CMCC's Brooke Reynolds earned Defensive Player of the Tounament while sister Jordyn earned Tournament MVP/

The CMCC Mustangs earn their second consecutive YSCC Women's Championship. The win gives the Mustangs an automatic bid to the USCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championships that take place February 27th - March 3rd at Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to the Central Maine Community College Mustangs, the 2017 - 18 YSCC Women's Basketball Champions.
