Lady Mustangs slay Knights in conference opener

AUBURN, ME (CMCC) - CM jumped out of the gate with relentless tempo, and carried it throughout, routing the Knights of Vermont Tech, 96-49 in their Yankee Conference opener. The Mustangs put up at least 20 points in each quarter, including 56 combined in the 2nd and 3rd as their blistering pace overwhelmed VTC.

Playing in front of her parents who were visiting all the wya from El Paso, TX, freshman Rebecca Davila notched a career-high 14 points on 6-11 shooting to help pace CM. Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) scored 13 for the second straight game to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Eraleena Gethers-Hairston (Auburn, ME) was perfect from the floor (5-5) on her way to 12 points, while Jordyn Reynolds (Poland, ME) finished with 9 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. 

Kristen Huntress (Harrison, ME), Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) and Sierra Wallace(Phippsburg, ME) scored 8 points a piece. In all, 13 of the 14 suited players scored and played at least 10 minutes. 

Jordanna Morris led the Knights with 19 points while Mariah Rilling hit three 3's finishing with 11.

The Mustangs forced 44 turnovers and out-rebounded VTC by +25.
