UMA women take home 71-64 victory over Vermont Tech

AUBURN, ME (UMA) – The Moose got YSCC conference play underway for the 2018/19 season with a win against Vermont Tech, 71-64 at CMCC making them 1-0 in the conference. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
This was only the second game for the women's basketball team this year and they found their stride as they worked on building in-game chemistry with both new players and new head coach Alex Stern. Through the first quarter it was a back and forth contest with multiple lead changes and both teams remaining within 4 points of each other. Through the second quarter the Moose started taking control of the game building a lead of 39-29 going into halftime. Vermont Tech fought back getting within 3 points during the second half of play but the Moose responded and regained a more comfortable lead and ultimately their first win of the new season.

Caitlin LaFountain scored 37 points tying her own single game scoring record.  Tonight's performance moves LaFountain into 2nd place on the all-time leading scorers list fors UMA.
