Everyone Contributes In Road Win At Unity

UNITY, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team arrived at a triple-digit point total in a 100-24 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) road win over the Rams of Unity College on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Everyone contributed to the scoresheet and five finished in double figures led by sophomore Amanda Brett's (Portland, Maine) 24—her fourth consecutive game with 20 or more. First-year Zoe Bodwell (Waterford, Maine) went for a season-high 13 points matched by sophomore captain Abigail Ramirez (Methuen, Mass.) on 5-5 shooting. Sophomore Lauryn Fagan (Standish, Maine) pulled down eight rebounds in 21 minutes on the floor.

The SeaWolves committed just two turnovers in the game, their lowest mark of the season, and get to 810 points in 10 conference games this season, first among all YSCC opponents.

Unity's Samantha Jalkowski led her team with seven points; Cyndle Turcotte was next with six points and six rebounds.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Katie Bergeron commented, "All saw significant time in this one, a true team win where everyone had a bucket. We took care of the basketball on the offensive end and maintained our shooting percentages. Now it's on to our next test at Machias."

The SeaWolves make it three in-a-row and push to 13-2 overall, 9-1 in conference play. The Rams drop their ninth consecutive and stand 1-10 overall, 1-8 YSCC.

The action continues when SMCC travels to the University of Maine at Machias on Sunday, Jan. 20 for a 1 p.m. tip. WATCH. For game day weather updates visit https://twitter.com/SMCCseawolves.
