SMCC Women Remain Perfect At The HUB

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team continued its perfect streak at The HUB defeating the Bulldogs from Bunker Hill Community College 69-38 in a non-conference game on Sunday, Jan. 27.

The Lady Wolves got off to a hot start scoring 19 in the first quarter to the Bulldogs' four. SMCC continued to post steady point totals backed by 20 points from the bench. As a team the SeaWolves converted on a third of their attempts and never surrendered the lead.

Sophomore captain Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) yet again led all scorers with 24 points—adding seven rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore captain Abigail Ramirez (Portland, Maine) was one rebound and one assist shy of a triple-double finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.

Bunker Hill's Jessica Allen led her team with 10 points and four steals.

With the result, the SeaWolves push to 16-2 overall and remain 11-1 in conference play. Bunker Hill dips to 6-9 overall.

The action continues when SMCC travels to the University of Maine at Machias for a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) matinee on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
