UMA's Hope Butler takes home USCAA DII Women's POTW

(YSCC) - The Yankee Small College Conference is proud to announce the athletes of the week awards for Week 2 of the 2019-2020 Winter sports season. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Hope Butler | University of Maine Augusta | G | FR

Hope gets the double award this week as she also nets the USCAA Women's DII Basketball Player of the Week. In a road win against conference opponent NHTI, Butler, a 5'6 freshman point guard, had 17 points, 11 rebounds (5 offensive) and a block. She helped to lead the Moose to a 2-0 week in conference action. In the two games, she averaged 16.5 points and went 46.4 from the field.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Elijah Smith | University of Maine Augusta | G | FR

Smith had a standout week for the Moose, helping to push them to 2-1 in conference action. His standout game came against Paul Smith's College, where he netted 33 points; 4 assists; 4 rebounds; and shot nearly perfect from the charity stripe. He averaged 22.3 points per game and shot 54.2 percent on the week.
