UMA Women's Cross Country Finishes Second At First Home Invitational

AUGUSTA, ME (UMA) – The University of Maine at Augusta hosted their first home meet in program history on one of the most storied cross country courses in the state. The UMA cross country course used to be the site of the Maine High School State Championships and is still the site of the Mountain Valley Championships each fall. The UMA 5K course has seen standout performances by some elite runners from Maine including Ben True and Matt Lane.

Five teams competed Saturday where the UMA women's cross country team ran to finish in second place behind Colby College who pulled off a perfect score of 15. Faith Krause led the Moose with 27:40 over the hilly course finishing in 10th place. Hunter Hoague out kicked Thomas College's Olivia Wallace in the final meters finishing just outside the top 10 in 11th place.

Senior Caitlin LaFountain and Meganne Radway both improved their 5K times from Week 1 of the season at Vermont Tech and are poised to run well at the Maine State Championship at Bowdoin College this coming week. Marissa Crosby rounded out the Moose scoring and is starting to feel more comfortable and continues to improve.
