Moose topple Seawolves in YSCC showdown

AUGUSTA, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team suffered a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) 89-50 loss at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

UMA put together a productive 25-point first quarter, limiting SMCC to 3-15 shooting in the same span. After an even second, the home team continued to build on its lead in each of the third and fourth quarters to run away with a 39-point victory.

Sophomore captain Halle Tripp (Searsmont, Maine) and first-year forward Skyler Tinker (Lubec, Maine) both reached double figures in the scoresheet going for 16 and 12 respectively—Tinker added seven rebounds and two assists.

UMA's Sage Fortin and Alisyn Alley both poured in 21—Alley's dynamic play also included seven rebounds, seven assists, and eight steals.

The result moves SMCC to 2-3 overall, 1-1 YSCC. UMA climbs to 5-2 overall, 1-1 YSCC.

Conference action continues when the Seawolves travel to New York for a two-game road trip with Word of Life Bible Institute on Friday, Nov. 22 followed by Paul Smith's College on Saturday, Nov. 23.
