Seawolves Sweep Home Opener

GAME ONE:

SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball opened its home slate with a convincing 15-0 win over Great Bay Community College in Game One of Friday's contests. Later completing the sweep in game two with another emphatic win, defeating Great Bay 15-1 in four innings in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Seawolves wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. SMCC would go on to plate at least three runs in each of the next three innings.

Connor Boulette (Westbrook, Maine) highlighted a balanced offensive effort with two hits and four RBIs, while Alex Bartlett (South Portland, Maine) and Adam Rowland (Milford, Maine) each drove in two runs.

On the mound, Garrett McLeod (Scarborough, Maine) was dominant, tossing a complete-game one-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

SMCC jumped ahead with five runs in the bottom of the first and added seven more in the second to break the game wide open. The Seawolves worked 12 walks and stole six bases to apply constant pressure.

Aaron Whitman (Bridgton, Maine) led the charge with two hits, two RBIs, and two steals. Adam Rowland scored three times, and seven different players recorded an RBI.

Max Noto (Portland, Maine) was sharp in his first start of 2025, striking out nine batters over four innings while allowing just one run on three hits.
