Men's Soccer hold off Charging Knights

(Augusta, ME) The UMA Moose men's soccer team faced off against the Vermont State University Randolph Knights on Saturday, October 7 at Gardiner Area High School Hoch Field. The game, originally scheduled to be played at the Moose home field, was moved to a turf surface due to the amount of rain that was forecasted to fall during the afternoon. The Moose were quick to draw the first strike when Ishan Abdalnabi scored his first of three goals on the day (15:59), (27:43), (76:45). Abdalnabi scored his first goal off of a deflected shot by Ali Albraihi causing panic inside the 18'. His second goal came from a pass from Pelle Ziervogul that split the defense and led Abdanalbi on a fast break towards goal. Ihsan would score his third goal from the PK after susbstaining a collision with two Knights inside the box drawing the infraction. The Knights only goal came off the foot of Ethan Blouin unassisted (58:15). A total of 6 yellow cards and 2 red cards were issued in what was a very physical game. The Moose prevailed over the Knights with a 3-1 victory. The Moose will enter the post season in the 6th position in the conference with what looks to be a match-up against Albany.
