(Augusta, ME) In an exciting clash on Kennebec Savings Bank Field, the UMA Moose faced off against the UMPI Owls in a women's soccer match that showcased intense competition and remarkable skill. The Moose, playing on their home turf, came out strong in the first half, firing off an impressive nine shots that put the Owls' defense to the test.
 
From the outset, the Moose were aggressive, with standout performances from Gabby Allen, who took three shots, and Elizabeth Reeves, Skyla Dean, and Lena Mau, each contributing two shots. Despite their offensive efforts, the Owls' defense, anchored by Mia Voisine, who delivered key saves, managed to keep the Moose from finding the back of the net.
 
As the game progressed into the second half, the Owls found their rhythm. With 15 shots on goal, they capitalized on their opportunities, scoring twice in crucial moments. Abby Doughty opened the scoring at the 66:12 mark, while Madelyn Marrow sealed the victory with a goal in the 81:22 minute.
 
Despite the final score, the Moose demonstrated resilience and determination. Notably, Bubbles Madlokazi excelled on defense, making critical plays that kept the Moose within striking distance while Vanessa Wharton had a full high-light reel of saves. The team also had three shots hit the post, indicating that they were close to breaking through.

The Moose will head to Farmington on Tuesday, September 3, to face off against the Beavers, looking to capitalize on their opportunities and secure a win.
