Women's Basketball demolishes NHTI

Auburn, ME - With a team that includes fifteen newcomers, you never know what you are going to get. However, tonight the Mustangs left no doubt about what kind of game they want to play, and what time of team they want to become. Flexing their depth, and overall talent, the Mustangs played 14 players in the first quarter, on their way to a 33-9 lead after one, and that snowballed into a decisive, 106-30 victory for the Mustangs.

In just 17-minutes, and in her first game since the season-opener, first-year standout, Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) scored a game-high and career-high 25 points. Cyla Moore (West Palm Beach, FL) joined the scoring party in a big way, tallying 18 points on 64% shooting. Harata Coleman (Tokomaru Bay, NZ) was the third and final Mustang in double-digits, hitting for 11 points on 5 of 6 shooting. First-year post player duo, Kali Thompson (Waterville, ME) and Sarah Poli (Benton, ME) both narrowly missed a double-double. Thompson finished with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Poli collected 9 points and 9 rebounds.

All 15 Mustangs who saw the floor recorded a rebound with 13 of them finding the scoring column. CM dished out 24 assists, forced 40 Lynx turnovers, and out-rebounded their opponent, 67-22.

With the win the Mustangs improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the YSCC. They will be back in action this weekend, with a home double-header. On Saturday, they host Paul Smith's College (NY) at 1:00pm, followed by a match-up with Albany College ofPharmacy & Health Sciences on Sunday. Both games will be streamed live by Munzing Media, on the CMCC Athletics Facebook page.
