Mustangs Shutout Hampshire

Amherst, MA - Coming off a big win against SMCC last Wednesday, the Mustangs took a small roster of 14 players to Amherst, MA for their final regular season contest of the season to take on a rebuilding women's program at Hampshire College in the first matchup between these two teams since 2018.

The Mustangs first goal came in the 23rd minute when Natalie Tracy (Oakland, ME) finished a Macie Fletcher (Wales, ME) corner kick to put Central Maine up 1-0. Fourteen minutes later the Mustangs would double their lead when Mya Sirois (Monmouth, ME) slipped a ball through the Hampshire defense that found Amelie Gingras (Granby, Quebec) breaking to goal to score for the first time this year.  Found minutes later Sirois again put a ball through, this time to Jaylin Woods (Clinton, ME) who notched her first of the season putting Central Maine up 3-0.  With two minutes to go in the first half Amelie Gingras sent a ball from the edge of the penalty area to Tracy who earned her second of the game giving the Mustangs a 4-0 lead. Tracy would get the hat trick in the final minute of the half on another feed from Sirois and the half ended with the Mustangs up 5-0.

In a shortened second half the Mustangs sat back and just controlled the game, content with the score the way it was and finished out the game for the 5-0 win.

Allie Annear (Auburn, ME) made three saves to secure the shutout win for Central Maine.

The Mustangs are back in action for a Yankee Small College Conference first round playoff game at home against their rivals Southern Maine Community College on Saturday Oct 22 with the time still to be determined.
