Women’s Basketball Falls Short in Tough Out-of-Conference Matchup
Paul Smiths, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College women's basketball team fought hard in their game against NCAA Division III Bard College on Saturday but fell 58-47 in a challenging out-of-conference matchup.
After a slow first half, the Bobcats regrouped and delivered a much-improved second-half performance, scoring 34 of their 47 points after halftime. Despite the comeback effort, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the visiting Raptors bent but didn't break.
Key contributors for the Bobcats included Holly Bagley (Bloomfield, NY), who led the team with 14 points and nine rebounds, showcasing her consistent scoring ability and presence on the boards. Jordan Louis (Crystal, NM) added 11 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, playing a pivotal role in keeping the offense moving. Jillian York (Largo, FL) and Finnley Jacobson (Vergennes, VT) each contributed eight points, with York grabbing nine rebounds and Jacobson adding seven, helping the Bobcats battle in the paint.
The team's resilience in the second half showed their ability to adjust and fight back, a promising sign as they continue their season. They sit at 1-1 overall in the early campaign and will take the court again on Monday, November 18th at 6:00 PM against NCAA Division III Clarkson University.
