WATERVILLE, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team fell to the NCAA Div. 3 Terriers of Thomas College 73-37 on the road Monday, Nov. 4.
The home team went to work right away posting 36 points in the first half, limiting SMCC to single digits in each of the first two quarters. The Seawolves strung together 13 points in the third, their most productive stretch, but could not slow the Terrier attack. The fourth quarter looked much the same and Thomas went on to pick up a decisive victory.
First-year guard Taylor Renna (Pembroke, N.H.) led the way for the Seawolves with 11 points on 4-12 shooting. Sophomore captain Halle Tripp (Searsmont, Maine) also recorded a double digit performance with 10, adding three rebounds and two steals to her stat line.
Thomas' Sky Kubwalo topped all scorers in the game with 18 spanning 15 minutes on the floor.
SMCC begins its season 0-1.
The Seawolves will play host to the USCAA Div. 1 Bengals from the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday, Nov. 9 in their home opener. Tip-off inside the HUB Athletics Building is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
