CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team took revenge on the NHTI Lynx with an 82-67 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

In a game that featured nine lead changes, the SeaWolves held a 3-point advantage at the break. The SeaWolves strung together one of their better shooting performances of the season in the second half going 50.0 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from beyond the arc. The stingy SMCC defense converted 23 points off of 19 NHTI turnovers—and this proved to be the difference.

Junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) scored 24 points and grabbed six steals. Sophomore captain Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) went for 20 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of work.

NHTI's Saeer Miller led his team with 20 points.

Following the game, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "Last night's victory was a complete team effort—everyone stepped up when their number was called. The guys did an outstanding job following the game plan we laid out to them, but the biggest thing that stood out was our bench decorum. Through all of the lead changes, our bench was always there to lift us up with timely energy. I'm extremely proud of this team and looking forward to continuing this momentum heading into the final stretch of the season."

SMCC moves into first place in the YSCC standings at 10-1, 13-4 overall. NHTI suffers its first conference loss at 9-1, 14-3 overall.

The SeaWolves look ahead to a make-up with the Panthers from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday, Feb. 5. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
