QUINCY, MASSACHUSETTS – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball cruised to a 13-1 victory over Quincy College in a dominant road win on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves scored in each of the first six innings. Quinn Dillon (Westbrook, Maine) got things going in the first, drawing a walk, stealing two bases, and scoring on a sacrifice fly from Alex Bartlett (South Portland, Maine).
SMCC put up four runs in the second, sparked by back-to-back RBI hits from Zach Oliver (Gorham, Maine) and Alex Bean (Naples, Maine). The Seawolves capitalized on Quincy's defensive miscues, nine errors in total, allowing SMCC to keep the pressure on.
The offensive outburst continued with three runs in the third, two more in the fourth, and one apiece in the fifth and sixth innings. Oliver showed off his bat, doubling three times and scoring three runs, while Bean recorded three hits and drove in two.
On the mound, Max Noto (Portland, Maine) earned the win with five strong innings, allowing just one run on five hits with two strikeouts. Dante Tocci (Lewiston, Maine) closed the game with two scoreless frames.
