Lady Wolves Log Shutout At Green Mountain

POULTNEY, VT (SMCC)—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team blanked NAIA Green Mountain College 5-0 in a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 8.

The Eagles hung tough until junior midfielder Jessica Haskell (Saco, Maine) opened scoring on a ball from first-year Ryleigh Lord (Pittsfield, Maine) at the 36:26 mark; sophomore captain Callie O'Brien (South Portland, Maine) doubled the visitor's lead before half getting on the other end of a free kick by senior captain Emily Harris(Dayton, Maine).

Haskell wasted no time in the early goings of the second half slotting one by Eagles' keeper Madison Soto for her second of the afternoon. First-year Yaya Dunn (Kittery, Maine) powered a bouncing ball into the top corner for her first collegiate goal at 62:05 and then it was O'Brien again as full time expired on a turn-around laser from 20 yards.

The Lady Wolves recorded 16 shots to land 10 on frame in 90 minutes of action. First-year goal keeper Dana Sirois(Saco, Maine) came away with her first collegiate clean sheet having to make just one save in the contest.

The result improved SMCC to 2-0 on the year, Green Mountain to 1-1 overall.
