CM Mustangs women, SM men head to USCAA DII championship games

(YSCC) – The Yankee Small College Conference has teams in both the men's and women's United States Collegiate Athletic Association DII Basketball Championship games on Thursday. 

The #5 seeded men of Southern Maine CC punched their ticket earlier Wednesday, with a decisive 61-44 win over #1 seed Penn State Mont Alto. 

YSCC All-Conference Team member Zach Mickle led the Seawolves with 27 points, including six three-pointers. 

The Seawolves will face #7 Johnson & Wales - Charlotte at Virginia State University Thursday.

The Central Maine CC Mustangs women closed out the YSCC day, earning their fifth straight trip to the USCCA DII Women's Basketball Championship game with a 70-56 win over the University of Cincinnati Clermont Wednesday night. 

The Cougars opened the game with a 9-0 run, but the Mustangs fought through and took charge the rest of the way. 

Eliza Brault led the Mustangs with 15 points and seven rebounds. Luna Love and Safena Te Nana-Williams both had 12 points to help power the Mustangs to the win. 

The #2 ranked Mustangs will face the winner of #1 Johnson & Wales - Charlotte and #4 PSU Schuylkill.
