Men’s Soccer Advances To YSCC Final Four

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The #3-ranked Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team took care of business on Saturday, Oct. 16 in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play-in game, earning a 5-0 victory over #6 Vermont Technical College.

First-year defender Elias Antonio (Portland, Maine) got things going for the home team, logging his second goal of the year inside the two-minute mark. First-year forward Eriksen Shea (Freeport, Maine) put two away less than two minutes apart, before Ebenezer Kwarteng (Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana) scored his first of his career to extend SMCC's lead 4-0 before the half.

Shea netted his league-leading 14th goal of the season at 58:24 on a ball from first-year Anthony Perron (South Portland, Maine) to complete the hat trick.

Sophomore goalkeeper Joshua Nagle (Biddeford, Maine) tallied five saves in 90 minutes of work.

Next, the SeaWolves will get the #2-ranked Mustangs from Central Maine Community College in the semifinal game at NHTI (Concord, N.H.) on Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff TBD. This will be third meeting between the Maine-state rivals, the SeaWolves sporting a 0-1-1 record against.
