AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team completed a 71-63 comeback victory at Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) rival Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

A lackluster defensive effort in the first half left the SeaWolves trailing by eight points 39-31 at the break—highlighted by a combined 20 points from captains Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) and Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.). Down 62-55 with 6:12 remaining, SMCC finished the game on a 16-1 run holding the home team scoreless for five and a half minutes. First-year guard Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) flushed the go-head three-pointer at just under two minutes to mark the final lead change of the game.

Cousins led all scorers with 19 and sophomore captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) finished with 16 points on 6-11 shooting. CMCC's Josh Chery totaled 13 points.

To this point, the SeaWolves have won four of their previous five meetings against the Mustangs. This result pushes SMCC to 8-3 overall, 5-1 in YSCC standings; CMCC sits 7-6 overall and 3-3 in league play.

The SeaWolves finish first semester action on Saturday, Dec. 18 when they host the Knights from Vermont Technical College in another YSCC tilt. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
