Lynx Run Over Mustangs

Lynx Run Over Mustangs

Auburn, ME – NHTI came out of the gate hitting 12-18 from the arc Thursday to cruise to a 102-72 win over the Mustangs.  This was the first home game for CM and the show was on.  Between the light show and video show, the energy in the building was high.  However, when its usually the Mustangs who come out on fire, the Lynx decided to take advantage of the hype and took off from the tip.

The halftime score reflected the energy and hot shooting.  CM went to the locker room down 55-36.

A better second half effort allowed the home team to climb back into the contest cutting the lead down to 12 points, with the ball.  Another costly turnover (14 for the game) derailed that attempt.

In the middle of the second half, around the ten-minute mark, CM made its stand.  Again, critical turnovers cost the Mustangs.  Up and down the lineup Coach Gonyea went attempting to find a player whose energy could turn the tide.  By the seven-minute mark, the tank was empty and the Lynx were running up and down the court scoring layups to a beaten Mustang squad.

CM shot a miserable 4-29 from the arc and only 38% from inside.

Corey David led the Mustangs with 15 points and 6 rebounds.  Demarco McKissic hit for 15 points and added 4 rebounds.

The squad looks to get back in the winning column hosting Paul Smith College Saturday and Albany College of Pharmacy on Sunday.
