BROCKTON, Mass.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split in a non-conference road series with the Warriors of Massasoit Community College on Sunday, April 3.

Game 1: W, 9-7 [BOX]

The SeaWolves offense jumped on the board in the first frame courtesy of a 2-RBI single by first-year shortstop Sam Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine). SMCC used three hits to turn in five runs in the fifth to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Massasoit closed the deficit spreading four runs over the fifth and sixth innings, but the road team kept pace with a two-run homer delivered by first-year Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) in the seventh.

Colon put together a 3-5 performance, scoring two runs. First-year Gabriel Rivera (Caguas. Puerto Rico) collected two hits in three trips to the plate, adding two RBI. First-year Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned his third win of the season allowing four runs and seven hits over five innings.

Game 2: L, 11-5 [BOX]

The teams traded run production in the first inning—the Warriors pounded back-to-back triples in the second to drive home five runs. Massasoit added two runs in each of the four and fifth innings to gain a comfortable advantage. SMCC grabbed a run in the seventh inning but fell short in its attempt.

First-year Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) recorded three of his team's seven hits. First-year Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine) suffered the loss; Massasoit's Jomar Castro earned the complete game victory.

SMCC improves to 14-5 overall; Massasoit sits 4-6 thus far.

The action continues when the SeaWolves return home to host the Knights from Northern Essex Community College in a non-conference 9-inning affair on Tuesday, April 5. First-pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
