HAVERHILL, Mass.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team defeated the Knights of Northern Essex Community College (NECC) 90-54 on the road in non-conference action Thursday, Nov. 11.

The SeaWolves took a 12-point advantage into the locker room at the half before a 56-point eruption in the second to continue their perfect start to the season. SMCC shot 50 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from three-point territory.

Sophomore captain Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) led his team with 18 points, knocking down four three-balls in 29 minutes. First-year Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) and junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) also finished in double figures; sophomore Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) tallied is second double-double in as many games with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

NECC's Metin Yavuz led all scorers in the game with 22.

Associate Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "Last night was a great test for our young group, playing everyone in the first half due to foul trouble. Once we settled in defensively, that was when we made our run by getting stops and sharing the basketball. Overall, I'm very pleased with how we handled our business—this gives us momentum ahead of a two-game conference road slate in New York."

The action continues when the SeaWolves take on Paul Smith's College in their Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opener on Saturday, Nov. 13. Tip-off in New York is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
