Baseball Scores 17 In Rout of Central Maine CC

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team bested Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 17-8 in a high-scoring affair on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The SeaWolves took an early lead in the second inning when first-year Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) was hit by a pitch, driving in a run. In the top of the third inning, CMCC tied things up at three when Cam Armstrong singled on a 1-2 count, scoring a run.

SMCC took the lead for good posting six runs in the fourth inning.

First-year Jack Falvo (East Hartford, Conn.) was credited with the victory for the home squad. The righty went 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out one. First-year Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine) threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The SeaWolves racked up 14 hits— Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico), Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa), Sam Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine), and Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) each collected multiple hits. Colon led with three knocks in four tries.

Coach Nic Lops and the Wolves get to 3-3 on the season.

SMCC returns to play on Saturday, Sept. 25 in a twin bill with NHTI. First-pitch in Concord, N.H. is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
