David's 15 footer Drops Herons

Portsmouth, NH - A Corey David jump shot with 15 ticks left on the clock propelled CM to a 70-69 win over Great Bay Community College Wednesday.

In a game where the Herons led most of the first half, and about half of the second half, the Mustangs were fighting uphill most of the contest.  An 8-0 run at the eight-minute mark in the second half led by six straight points from Josh Chery gave the Mustangs the lead at 59-56 lead.   The lead changed five more times remainder of the contest.

As the game came down the stretch, cool, calm, and collective captain Corey David kept the ball in his hands and distributed accordingly.  A Marshall Evans three (8 points) followed up with a layup put the Mustangs up by three with two minutes left.  Keagan Pitcher knocked down a key shot to keep the Mustangs in top.

After David's game winning shot and a Heron timeout with 15 seconds left, the Mustangs held the fort down stopping a Heron baseline drive to seal the victory.

David led the Mustangs with 21 points and 5 rebounds.  Josh Chery registered 19 points and 7 rebounds.  Justin Dugan (who played his best game of the year) came off the bench to rip down 10 rebounds.

The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday hosting Berkeley college of New York in a 2pm contest.
