Auburn, ME - The bats came alive for the Mustangs on Sunday afternoon as they defeated UNH 8-3 and 9-6.
In game 1, CM set the pace with a quick run in the bottom of the first on a sac fly by Stefan Lesco that plated Jimmy Reed. Reed led the CM offense with two hits and three runs score. Lesco had two hits. Caleb Valliere also added four RBI.
Jake Arel was the starter going four innings giving up three hits and one run. He gave way to Valliere who threw three innings of one hit baseball to earn the win.
Reed continued his hot streak by having three more hits in game two including two runs scored and two RBI. A six run fourth inning gave the Mustangs the cushion they needed highlighted by a two run single by Reed and a RBI double by Lesco.
Rhen Trinidade kept the Wildcats hitters off balance going four innings only giving up two hits. Hunter Warren came in relief to notch the win.
"Our offense is starting to come around. We are getting quality at bats and timely hitting" said CM coach Ryan Palmer. "We are running the bases well and playing superb defense. Coach Turenne is doing a great job calling the game for our pitchers, working the corners and keeping hitters off balance."
CM begins Yankee Conference play with a doubleheader on Tuesday in Auburn against Great Bay. Game one begins at 5:00pm.
