Mustangs exact revenge, blowout nationally ranked CCRI

Auburn, ME - After suffering a first semester loss to the Knights in Warwick, Rhode Island, CM had this game circled on the schedule. After not being ready to play in the first match-up, the Mustangs made sure they were ready for this tilt. Although CCRI scored the first basket of the game, that was their lone lead, as CM raced out to 21 first quarter points, and never looked back on their way to a 81-49 rout.

Eliza Brault (Ossipee, NH) played her best game of the year, recording a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists. Brault was the lone starter in double figures, but she had more than enough scoring help from the bench.

The CM bench almost out-scored all of CCRI, combining for an impressive 47 points. Ja'Naia Moran (Boynton Beach, FL) hit three first half threes on her way to 12 points. Leata Te Nana-Williams (Auckland, NZ) hit three threes of her own, all in the second half, and finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Luna Love (Zwolle, Netherlands) tallied 10 points and 5 steals.

As usual, Jade Smedberg (Oxford, ME) made a constant impact throughout the game. She finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Elizabeth Bruno was the only Knight to score in double figures, finishing with 10.

The Mustangs forced 43 turnovers, while also recording 27 offensive rebounds.

With the win, CM improves to 16-2 overall. They will be back in action next weekend, for a rosd double-header in New York. On Saturday they take on Albany College of Pharmacy, then finish the road trip on Sunday against Paul Smith's College.
