SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team defeated the #4 Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 73-66 in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The Mustangs started on a 6-0 run before the home team piled on 43 points to lead by a 14-point margin at the break. The SeaWolves offense was slowed in the second half, but ultimately used as much as a 21-point advantage to run the clock out on CMCC's season.

Junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) topped all scorers in the game with 24, knocking down 4-9 attempts from downtown. Sophomore captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) totaled 12 points and YSCC Player of the Year Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) ripped 10 rebounds.

CMCC's Jordan Dudgeon led his team with 23 points on 8-11 shooting.

YSCC Coach of the Year Matt Richards, commented, "I thought the key for us was doing a good job contesting shots on the defensive end. That effort led to execution on the offensive end to pull out the victory against a very good Central Maine squad that was peaking at the right time.

The SeaWolves get back to the championship game in a replay of the 2019 matchup with #2 NHTI. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
