Randolph Center, VT - The Vermont Tech women's soccer team started their season with a loss and a tie.
The Knights opened the season against Bristol Community College last weekend, and couldn't keep up from the start. The defense sometimes struggled with containment and the speed of their fast forwards. The Knights were also called for 2 handballs that were in the penalty box, resulting in 2 goals for Bristol.
The Knights second game of the season at home was a riveting 0-0 tie with Holyoke Community College. The teams were evenly matched, with both teams getting off 9 shots, and a back and forth game for the full 90 minutes. Neither team could quite gain an edge, though both teams came close to scoring. Holyoke keeper Emily Yan saved 4 out of 4 shots on goal, and Knights keeper Ebony Cota saved 6 of 6 shots on goal. Knights players Haley Mattison and Evan Gillette had 3 shots apiece, with midfielders Brooke Bove and Michaela Chase getting shots off as well.
The Knights take on NVU Johnson at home this week.
