Baseball Gets Weekend Split At Holman Stadium

NASHUA, N.H.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split in a doubleheader at Holman Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 19. The SeaWolves beat NCAA Div. III Rivier University in an exhibition and then suffered a loss to Northern Essex Community College.

 

Rivier University: W, 11-7 [BOX]

SMCC tallied six runs in the fourth inning to withstand five in the seventh by Rivier.

The SeaWolves racked up 10 hits in the game— Gabriel Rivera (Caguas Puerto Rico), Sam Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine), Andrew Martin (Dracut, Mass.), and Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) all collected multiple knocks for SMCC. Rivera went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with four RBI, driving runners on a double in the fourth and a single in the seventh.

Jack Falvo (East Hartford, Conn.) started the game and allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings. Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned the victory on the pitcher's mound also going two innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking one. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Thomas Knott (Winterport, Maine), Logan Burt (Philadelphia, Pa.), Liam Milne (Medfield, Mass.), and Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa) all securing outs and ultimately the victory.

This game is deemed an exhibition and does not count towards overall record.

 

Northern Essex Community College: L, 12-0 [BOX]

SMCC watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-0 loss. The Knights fired up the offense in the first inning posting five runs; adding more in every inning to follow.

Knott and Townsend each collected one hit for a SMCC offense that was kept at bay by NECC pitching.

Jayden Voelker earned the win for the Knights going three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out seven; Emerson Tucholski (Westlake, Ohio) took the loss for the SeaWolves.
