Lynx Take Advantage Of SeaWolves’ Second Half Woes

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team was defeated 77-74 to the Lynx from NHTI in a much anticipated Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) bout on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The home team climbed ahead by as much as 13 points in the first half and led by eight at the break. The Lynx made 6-10 from downtown to outscore the SeaWolves 47-36 in the second and come away with the victory. The difference proved to be the margin in three-point percentage. SMCC connected for a season-low 18.2 percent on 22 attempts; NHTI made near 40 percent of their 23 attempts.

Sophomore captain Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) notched his sixth double-double of the season going for 20 points and 13 rebounds. Three others logged double digit scoring efforts featuring a season-high 14 points from junior captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine).

NHTI's Scott Spann led his team with 18 points and 11 boards.

The SeaWolves slide to 5-2 overall, 3-1 YSCC. The Lynx get to 6-1, and remain unblemished at 4-0 in conference action.

Next up for the SeaWolves is a home date with the Buccaneers from Mass Bay Community College (NJCAA) on Saturday, Dec. 4. Tip-off from inside The HUB is scheduled for 1 p.m.
