Moose Slip by Mustangs

Moose Slip by Mustangs

Augusta, ME - Costly turnovers down the stretch and two three point bombs in the last minute curtailed the Mustangs three game winning streak in Augusta as the Moose defeated the Mustangs 70-64.  Shooting a dismal 3-19 from the three point line highlights the problems he Mustangs faced all night.  Despite its size advanage, CM was outrebounded as well 35-34. A disappointing night for all but as the season moves forward, lessons are learned and freshman have to step up and veterans need to lead.

The basket seemed to shrink as the first half progressed.  The Mustangs missed many shots that normally go down, and the work ethic was there but the basketball gods decided it wasn't going to be a Mustang night.

A gritty UMA squad led the game at the half and throughout the first half by five points.  A halftime regroup by the Mustangs seemed to turn the tide as the team held down the Moose limiting them to outside shots.  CM took the lead with 3 minutes left in the contest, but three consective turnovers negated the lead.  Credit the Moose; they never gave in inch, worked hard all game, and at the end, earned the victory.

Josh Chery led CM with a 26 point performance and ripped down 5 rebounds.

CM travels to Roxbury College for a 2pm tilt on Thursday.
